These are fantastic jackets. They are warm, and for a tall woman, it fits perfectly. I highly recommend!
I love this piece and wear it constantly during the winter here in Colorado. I will often wear this as a base layer for winter rock climbing, throwing it on at the base of a climb after an approach. The interior is soft and comfortable and great for all day use. It's a great mid-layer for backcountry skiing worn with a merino t-shirt under a lightweight soft shell jacket or hard shell in bad weather. And it might even get worn around town once in a while.
Awesome, but x-large is smaller than normal, thanks
This is an amazing hoodie. Fits like a glove and is amazingly warm for its' weight. (5'9", 140 lbs, thin, wiry. Ordered a small.) When you are moving, this and a t-shirt are fine, even in the 40's. It's thin enough to wear under anything. A perfect layer that doesn't restrict. I especially like the zipper setup. It zips up slightly off center so it isn't jabbing my Adam's apple or ripping hair out of my chin when I'm moving.
It was our destiny. My NW Alpine Black Spyder arrived just before a two day winter storm dumped feet of snow in the high country: In a few days we were snowshoeing through deep powder at 10,300' in 20+ MPH blowing snow. The Spyder under a soft-shell was PERFECT. Warm, lightweight, contoured fit but without binding. The hood provided quick and easy temperature regulation as I alternated breaking trail with my teammate. I've spent my life outside and seen plenty of cold weather. Although it is early in the season - and in our relationship - this hoodie has made a believer out of me. A triumph of design manufacture, made in the American West. Excellent work, NW Alpine.
