fortis
(adj.)
strong, vigorous
OUR NEW FORTIS LINE IS THE CULMINATION OF NEARLY TWO YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT.
Sourcing the materials, the right mills, and navigating the logistical complications of the pandemic has made this a lengthy process, but we believe the effort was worth it to bring you a fabric like no other.
Our new and improved FORTIS fabric builds upon its predecessor, the Spectra line. Meaning strong in Latin, the Fortis line is made from knitted fabric that pairs polyester and ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers to create a yarn which enhances the durability and strength of the fabric, leaving you with a garment that is both comfortable and long lasting. UHMWPE fibers are fifteen times stronger than steel at the same weight and are used for applications ranging from body armor to rope to racing sails. At 130 gsm, our new fabric is softer and thicker than its predecessor. It also offers a UPF 15 rating.
SOURCING
The fiber is made in Japan, then sent to Taiwan where it is spun into a proprietary yarn and knit into the final FORTIS fabric. Special dyeing, cutting, and sewing is done at our factory in Salem, Oregon.
